Black Raspberry Iced Tea

Servings 8 cups
Ingredients
8 1/2 cups water divided
5 tea bags
2/3 cup sugar
2 cups fresh raspberries
2 cups fresh blackberries
juice of 1 lemon
Instructions
1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Stir in the sugar until dissolved. Remove from heat and add the tea bags. Steep for 6-8 minutes. Discard tea bags.
2. In a separate saucepan add the raspberries, blackberries, and 1/2 cup of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 3-5 minutes stirring and mashing occasionally. Strain the mixture into a medium heat proof bowl. Discard the pulp and seeds.
3. In a pitcher combine the tea, berry juice, juice of 1 lemon, and an additional 4 cups of water. Stir, chill, and serve over ice.
Recipe Notes
Make it a cocktail and mix with your favorite vodka.
Garnish with fresh berries or lemon wedges.
